Nothing Phone (2) launch date confirmed by CEO Carl Pei: All you need to know

Nothing has been steadily dropping teasers about its upcoming smartphone. The Nothing Phone (2) has already been teased by company CEO Carl Pei, confirming that the device would be unveiled this summer.

However, in a recent interaction with Forbes, Pei revealed even more details about the Phone (2). The report also notes that the Nothing Phone (2) will pack a bigger battery than its predecessor. Pei confirmed that the Phone (2) will pack a 4,700 mAh battery as compared to the 4,500 mAh cell on the Phone (1).

According to the report, the Nothing Phone (2) launch date is set for July 2023. While no official launch date has been provided, the Phone (2) will be available globally starting this July. Pei previously confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) would be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

The new Snapdragon 8 series chip will bring improvements across the board on the Phone (2), including in the camera, performance, power efficiency, and AI departments. Pei noted that the “Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a proven processor. It has been thoroughly tested and continuously optimised through numerous updates since its introduction a year ago.”

He also noted that the lates technology comes at a greater cost that may not always be justified. “Choosing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures that Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1).”

Apart from the chipset, the Phone (2) will use LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Moreover, it will sport a 6.55-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. For optics, the Nothing Phone (2) is touted to feature a 50 MP triple-camera setup on the back with OIS support on the main sensor.

The Phone (2) will run Android 13 with the NothingOS 1.5 skin on top. You can also expect the device to feature the LED Glyph interface and a dual stereo speaker system. The Nothing Phone (2) will be available through Flipkart after it launches in India.
