3. Other Tricks to Read Twitter DMs Without Sender Knowing

Cannot disable read receipts yet want to read Twitter DMs without letting the sender know? You may also find common tricks, such as reading notifications or going offline.

Read Message from Notifications

One of the easiest ways to read Twitter DMs is through notifications. You will get a notification displaying a preview of a message from someone whenever they send it to you. It won’t work if you have long text or images.

Disable Internet and Read the DM

The other workaround that works for almost every messaging app is to disable the internet before reading the message. It is possible to disconnect mobile data and Wifi, then read the direct message on Twitter. The message will not be marked as visible. The seen badge will be displayed as soon as your go online. To avoid it:

  • Force stop the Twitter app until the next time you open it.
  • OR, clear the Twitter app’s data and re-login with your account. It will still be visible as unread.
